MAURO (nee Maletta), Assunta

-

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Assunta Mauro on May 16, 2022. Beloved mom and best friend to Maria, and sister to Angelina Nava, her "baby sister". Zia to many caring nieces and nephews whom she loved so much. Special Nanna, second mom, and good friend to many. Predeceased by her husband Tony, parents Rosa and Angelo Maletta and siblings Carmela, Francesco, Santo and Stella. Assunta was a beautiful, determined, loving and joyful person who welcomed all into her home. She touched so many lives. She enjoyed cooking wonderful meals, spending time with family and friends, and the occasional trip to the casino. She was blessed with a beautiful voice and sang with the Holy Rosary Church choir for many years. She lived her faith every day. Special thanks to all her health care providers and caregivers over the years, especially current companion Brenda and nurse Kait for their kindness and compassion. You will be missed beyond measure, as you have loved us without measure. The family will receive friends at the HAINE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 26 Ormond Street South, Thorold on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Vigil Prayers will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday at 3pm. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church (21 Queen St. S., Thorold) on Thursday, May 19 at 10:00am. Rite of Committal at Lakeview Cemetery, Thorold. If so desired, donations to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Niagara Health Foundation or Canadian Blood Services would be appreciated by the family. As a courtesy to others, the family is requesting wearing masks at this time.
