With heavy hearts and great sadness, the family of Marjorie Emily Summers regretfull­y announce her peaceful passing a day after celebratin­g her 100th birthday at Tufford Manor retirement home on Monday, April 15, 2024. Leaving to mourn Marjorie's passing are her nieces and nephews: Gloria Hiebert, David (Janet) Blundell, Greg (Kim) Thornton, Doug (Colleen) Emslie, Bruce (Kim) Emslie, Heather (Jeff) Murrell, Holly (Joe) Felice and the late Gordon (Joan) Woodwards; Great-nieces and nephews: Shari Hiebert, Lesley (Dave) Joyce, Dan (Stephanie) Emslie, Kelly (Dan) Shewfelt, Brooke (Matt) Kernahan, Matthew (Andrea) Emslie, Steven (Victoria) Emslie, Amanda Thornton and Ken Thornton. Marjorie was the Great-Aunt of many nieces and nephews. Predecease­d by Marjorie is her cherished husband, William Summers, parents Walter and Emily Woodwards, siblings Bob Woodwards, Dennis Woodwards, Doris (Andy) Robertson, Eileen (Harold) Davidson and Evelyn (Fred) Emslie, nephews Larry Blundell and Ken Thornton, niece Linda Almost and greatniece Barbara Blundell. Marjorie had a knack for fivepin bowling and was a Master Bowler whom won many tournament­s including the Ontario Championsh­ip in 1960 and the Canadian Championsh­ip in 1963. She was often instructin­g bowling on Saturdays to youth at Latcham Lanes in Port Dalhousie. Marjorie was inducted to both the Niagara Peninsula Bowler's Hall of Fame and the Ontario Bowler's Hall of fame. When she wasn't spinning the ball, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening. The family wish to express their gratitude for the great care and compassion given from the nursing staff at Tufford Manor. In keeping with Marjorie's wishes, funeral arrangemen­ts have been entrusted with the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines. The family welcomes friends and family for a time of gathering held on Friday, April 19, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 9:00 p.m., with a Funeral Service to take place Saturday, April 20, 2024 in the funeral home ceremony room beginning at 11:00 a.m., with burial at Victoria Lawn Cemetery to follow. If desired, donations may be made to the Hotel Dieu Shaver and/or Tufford Manor.
