Corner Brook finally gets first win
The good news is Corner Brook Steers Insurance finally got its first win of the 2017 Molson Challenge Cup Soccer League season over the weekend, but the bad news is the west coast club lost another pair of games to fall to 1-11-1 on the year.
Logan McIssac scored twice, and Chris Bulger had the other as Corner Brook down the Canada Games team 3-0 during a three-game set at the Wellington Street Sports Complex in Corner Brook over the weekend.
Jacob Grant, Emmanuel Dolo and Felly Elonda had the goals as the Games squad beat Corner Brook 3-1. Clarence Bennett scored in a losing cause. And Dolo scored twice and Sam Hawco posted the shutout as the Games squad registered a 2-0 win.
Sunday at King George V Park, Feildians and the St. Lawrence Laurentians battled to a scoreless tie. Braedon Sheppard, for Feildians, and Patrick Slaney, for the Laurentians, posted the shutouts.
The Games squad is back in action 7 o’clock Wednesday night when it takes on Mount Pearl at the Gushue Sports Complex in Mount Pearl.
