Cor­ner Brook fi­nally gets first win

The good news is Cor­ner Brook Steers In­sur­ance fi­nally got its first win of the 2017 Mol­son Chal­lenge Cup Soc­cer League sea­son over the week­end, but the bad news is the west coast club lost an­other pair of games to fall to 1-11-1 on the year.

Lo­gan McIs­sac scored twice, and Chris Bul­ger had the other as Cor­ner Brook down the Canada Games team 3-0 dur­ing a three-game set at the Welling­ton Street Sports Com­plex in Cor­ner Brook over the week­end.

Ja­cob Grant, Em­manuel Dolo and Felly Elonda had the goals as the Games squad beat Cor­ner Brook 3-1. Clarence Ben­nett scored in a los­ing cause. And Dolo scored twice and Sam Hawco posted the shutout as the Games squad reg­is­tered a 2-0 win.

Sun­day at King Ge­orge V Park, Feil­dians and the St. Lawrence Lau­ren­tians bat­tled to a score­less tie. Brae­don Shep­pard, for Feil­dians, and Patrick Slaney, for the Lau­ren­tians, posted the shutouts.

The Games squad is back in ac­tion 7 o’clock Wed­nes­day night when it takes on Mount Pearl at the Gushue Sports Com­plex in Mount Pearl.
