City host­ing At­lantic soc­cer tour­ney

The New­found­land and Labrador Soc­cer As­so­ci­a­tion are wel­com­ing three other prov­inces to Cor­ner Brook to­day as the U13/U14 At­lantic Soc­cer Cham­pi­onships get un­der­way at Welling­ton Street Sports Com­plex.

Join­ing New­found­land and Labrador are Nova Sco­tia, New Brunswick and Prince Ed­ward Is­land.

The U13 boys team con­sists of Ahmed She­hata, Alexan­der Dil­lon, An­der­son Pritchard, Brae­don Har­vey, Dil­lon Brown, Dylan Owens, Ethan Strick­land, Evan Carter, Fin­lay Stephen, Fin­ley Man­ning, Fir­mosa Hasan, Ian O’Driscoll, Is­sac Bai­ley, Josh Ped­dle, Kirk Ed­wards, Lo­gan Dob­bin, Max Baker Pike, Ni­cholas Jones, Owen Afonso, and Reg­gie Pike.

The U14 boys team fea­tures Alexan­dre Nunes, Alex Broth­ers, Ali Zi­dan, An­drew Power, Ben James, Bran­don Toope, Brett Rus­sell, Colby Stephen, Daniel Courage, Daniel Han­lon, Ja­cob Bartlett, James Clarke, Jonathan Fur­long, Liam Hen­nessey, Mycah Win­sor, Pa­trick Hur­ley, Ryan Kenny, and Taj Ex­ley.

The teams will play a three­game round robin, with the top two teams in each age group ad­vanc­ing to the goldmedal games, while the third and fourth place teams play for bronze.

Un­for­tu­nately for lo­cal fans, there are no west coast soc­cer play­ers on ei­ther ros­ter.

Mean­while, the New­found­land and Labrador girls U13 and U14 teams head to Char­lot­te­town, P.E.I. for their pro­vin­cial cham­pi­onships.

There are no west coast rep­re­sen­ta­tives in those line­ups ei­ther.
