Trying to set up a release plan
CORNER BROOK — A Corner Brook man will have to spend a few more days in jail as his legal aid lawyer tries to put together a release plan for him.
William Murphy, 69, is accused of sexually assaulting a woman last Saturday.
He appeared before Judge Catherine Allen-Westby in provincial court on Friday for a status update.
Defence lawyer Sandi MacKinnon told the court that she has been unsuccessful in locating a surety for Murphy, and asked to have his matter set over to next week so she could finalize a release plan for him.
He’ll be back in court on July 11.
Murphy was reported missing on June 28 and was located by the RNC on June 30.
