Bees edge Monarchs in extra innings
It took two runs in the bottom of the ninth for the Rapid Power Sports Bees to eke out a 17-16 win over the West Side Monarchs in Wednesday night action from the Corner Brook Molson Ladies Fastpitch Softball League at Ambrose O’Reilly Memorial Field.
Rebecca Goulding was 3-for-4 in the win, with three runs scored and a stolen base. She was walked four times. Kayla Brake scored three with two steals in a 5-for-7 night. Jeanette Lovell was 4-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBIs. Sandra Wells had two runs scored and an RBI in a 4-for-5 outing.
Laura Prosper’s 4-for-5 night led the way in the loss, with two runs scored and two RBIs. Ashley Bromley crossed the plate four times and stole four bases, with an RBI and two walks in a 2-for-4 night.
Jillian Wells earned the completegame win, scattering 15 hits over nine innings, with nine walks and six strikeouts.
Kim Janes suffered the defeat in a nine-inning effort, giving up 23 hits and 15 walks, with five strikeouts.
