Bees edge Mon­archs in ex­tra in­nings

It took two runs in the bot­tom of the ninth for the Rapid Power Sports Bees to eke out a 17-16 win over the West Side Mon­archs in Wed­nes­day night ac­tion from the Cor­ner Brook Mol­son Ladies Fast­pitch Soft­ball League at Am­brose O’Reilly Memo­rial Field.

Re­becca Gould­ing was 3-for-4 in the win, with three runs scored and a stolen base. She was walked four times. Kayla Brake scored three with two steals in a 5-for-7 night. Jeanette Lovell was 4-for-6 with three runs scored and two RBIs. San­dra Wells had two runs scored and an RBI in a 4-for-5 out­ing.

Laura Pros­per’s 4-for-5 night led the way in the loss, with two runs scored and two RBIs. Ash­ley Brom­ley crossed the plate four times and stole four bases, with an RBI and two walks in a 2-for-4 night.

Jillian Wells earned the com­pletegame win, scat­ter­ing 15 hits over nine in­nings, with nine walks and six strike­outs.

Kim Janes suf­fered the de­feat in a nine-in­ning ef­fort, giv­ing up 23 hits and 15 walks, with five strike­outs.
