Unfinished enhancements made times on digital devices change in the Grenfell Campus area
Anyone visiting Grenfell Campus, Memorial University this past week may have been thrown for a loop if they checked the time on their cellphones.
Hopefully, nobody was tardy for an important meeting.
In certain areas of the campus, the time displayed on digital devices was half an hour behind what the actual time was.
The devices would correct themselves from Atlantic Daylight Time to Newfoundland Daylight Time time once out of the areas affected.
The communications staff at Grenfell was aware of the issue, but could not explain it.
When asked by the Saltwire Network about it Friday, Bell Aliant spokesperson Mark Duggan said that, as part of recent network enhancements in the Grenfell Campus area, some small cells were installed and non-critical configuration details — such as the time zone — were not complete.
Duggan added that Bell’s engineers are working to make the adjustments and hoped to have everyone on the same schedule soon.
The problem seemed to have been addressed later Friday afternoon.
