Corner Brook man de­tained for pub­lic in­tox­i­ca­tion charged with as­sault­ing po­lice of­fi­cer

CORNER BROOK — A 24-yearold man de­tained for be­ing in­tox­i­cated in pub­lic was kept in cus­tody a lit­tle longer af­ter he al­legedly as­saulted a po­lice of­fi­cer in Corner Brook Wed­nes­day evening.

Jor­dan King-Hann was ini­tially de­tained af­ter po­lice re­ceived a com­plaint of an in­tox­i­cated man on the Corner Brook Stream Trail near the Glyn­mill Inn Pond at round 8:35 p.m. Wed­nes­day. Ac­cord­ing to the Royal New­found­land Con­stab­u­lary, an of­fi­cer was al­legedly as­saulted by King-Hann as he was be­ing pro­cessed at the lock-up fa­cil­i­ties. He was charged with as­sault­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer, along with pos­ses­sion of a con­trolled sub­stance. He made an ap­pear­ance in pro­vin­cial court Thurs­day, but had his case set over for a bail hear­ing Fri­day. He was re­leased and had his next court ap­pear­ance sched­uled for Aug. 8.
