Performances by two classic Canadian rock iconic groups and a first-rate summer’s evening proved the perfect combination to attract partygoers for Saturday’s Exploits Valley Salmon Festival.

The concert’s early performances featured local talent and despite a day that saw temperatures soar high into the 20s, the early crowds lagged.

But as if on the cue, the crowd built early in the evening in anticipation of performances by April Wine and Loverboy.

Unofficial attendance numbers for the concert aren’t traditionally released right away, but many who have attended the most recent shows estimated Saturday night’s crowd to be above 2,000.
