Contractor has begun paving program on city streets
The contractor hired by the City of Corner Brook to pave streets this year has begun putting asphalt down.
The city awarded the $965,635 paving contract to Marine Contractors earlier this month and the contractor has started repairing recent cuts made to city streets to repair waterlines under the roads.
The contractor will then move on to do larger sections of some roads.
This year’s paving work is being funded through the city’s Federal Gas Tax Rebate. According to Mayor Charles Pender, the city has applied for additional funding and hopes to do more paving work later in the season.
