The fifth-place Rangers put them­selves in a strong po­si­tion to ad­vance past the six­thranked Mas­ters and con­tinue their at­tempt to climb into the fi­nal tier of the play­offs, as they took Game 1 of the two-game, to­tal-goal se­ries by a 3-0 score. The sec­ond game of that se­ries will go 9 p.m. Sun­day night. In ac­tion from the top-three bracket on Wed­nes­day, the league’s two un­beaten teams stayed that way as the top-seeded West Side Monar­chs and sec­ond­place Ford Mus­tangs played to a 0-0 draw. The Mus­tangs will tan­gle with third-place Clancy’s Pub 6:30 p.m. Sun­day, be­fore the Monar­chs square off against that same Stephenvil­le-based pub club 7 p.m. Mon­day night.
