PRE­LIM­I­NARY IN­QUIRY SET FOR 4TH MAN CHARGED IN HOME IN­VA­SION

COR­NER BROOK — A pre­lim­i­nary in­quiry will take place later this fall for Dy­lan Joseph Ryan.

The 21-year-old Deer Lake man is the last of four men, charged fol­low­ing an al­leged home in­va­sion in Rei­dville in Oct. 2017, with charges still be­fore the court.

Ryan is charged with use of a firearm in com­mit­ting rob­bery, forcible con­fine­ment and be­ing dis­guised with in­tent.

He elected trial by judge alone in the Supreme Court of New­found­land and Labrador in April with a pre­lim­i­nary in­quiry.

The pre­lim­i­nary in­quiry was set for Oct. 15 dur­ing an ap­pear­ance in provin­cial court in Cor­ner Brook on Thurs­day. Be­fore that the Crown will present ar­gu­ments on a Sec­tion 540 (7) ap­pli­ca­tion re­gard­ing the ad­mis­si­bil­ity of cer­tain ev­i­dence. That hear­ing will be held on Aug. 31. Ricky Hal­f­yard, 30, and Tan­ner Healey, 24, were each sen­tenced to five years in jail and Jared Healey, 22, to two years ear­lier this year af­ter plead­ing guilty to the charges against them re­lated to in­ci­dent.
