PRELIMINARY INQUIRY SET FOR 4TH MAN CHARGED IN HOME INVASION
CORNER BROOK — A preliminary inquiry will take place later this fall for Dylan Joseph Ryan.
The 21-year-old Deer Lake man is the last of four men, charged following an alleged home invasion in Reidville in Oct. 2017, with charges still before the court.
Ryan is charged with use of a firearm in committing robbery, forcible confinement and being disguised with intent.
He elected trial by judge alone in the Supreme Court of Newfoundland and Labrador in April with a preliminary inquiry.
The preliminary inquiry was set for Oct. 15 during an appearance in provincial court in Corner Brook on Thursday. Before that the Crown will present arguments on a Section 540 (7) application regarding the admissibility of certain evidence. That hearing will be held on Aug. 31. Ricky Halfyard, 30, and Tanner Healey, 24, were each sentenced to five years in jail and Jared Healey, 22, to two years earlier this year after pleading guilty to the charges against them related to incident.
