N.L. content headed to Atlantic film festival
A short film about the life of the late Janet Edmonds is among the locally produced short films being shown at the FIN Atlantic International Film Festival.
Edmonds, a well-respected local actress, passed away in 2017 after being diagnosed with cancer. At the time, she was playing Lady MacBeth in Perchance Theatre’s 2015 production of Macbeth.
The film, “Life’s Short. Wear the Sparkly Earrings,” is directed by Heidi Coombs-Thorne. Local director Emily Bridger will have two films showing at the festival. “Waste It” is the story of an artist dealing with “the fleeting nature of romance through filmmaking, only to run into conflict with her cast and crew.”
Bridger’s “Lamenting Pluto,” wherein a young woman tries to find her place in the world through a discussion of the cosmos runs for 15 minutes at the festival.
Local writer and director Devin Shears’ “A Dreaming House” will appear on the big screen as well.
The film takes in the sounds of “the dreams and nightmares of a lonely old house.”
Bruce Brenton’s “Tutorial” will also get a showing at the festival. The film follows a father and young girl who try and work together.
The FIN Atlantic International Film Festival runs Sept. 12 to 20 in Halifax, N.S.
