KFC gives couple free chicken for a year
CORNER BROOK, N.L. — Corner Brook newlyweds Paul and Cathy Parsons got a special wedding gift on Friday — free KFC for a year.
The couple became famous last week after a picture of their KFC bucket wedding cake and personalized cake topper made the rounds on social media.
As the couple and their children were sitting down to a KFC meal on Friday, they got a message from the company saying it had been made aware of the cake and wanted to give them a wedding gift.
“We were pretty surprised by it,” Paul said on Monday.
The couple and their children had just returned from a mini-vacation with Paul’s best man and his family in the Rocky Harbour area.
“When we came back after all the exhausting wedding things that comes with a wedding, wedding planning and the post-wedding and wedding cleanup we were like, you know what, we’re just not in the mood to cook.”
With the whole family in agreement the decision was made to pick up some food — from KFC, of course.
They had just gotten home and were unpacking the bags when they got the message.
“It sounds too ironic, but it actually is true,” said Paul.
“It was hilarious. We got such a kick out of it,” he said.
