The Cathe­dral St. John The Evan­ge­list is host­ing a barbecue on the Cana­dian Tire park­ing lot 10 a.m-3 p.m. June 14. Funds raised will to­wards renovations at Killdevil Camp.

The Royal Cana­dian Le­gion Branch 13 will be hold­ing Chase the Ace on Thurs­day, June 14, 7-9 p.m. There are 22 cards left with a jack­pot of $6,100.00.

Oakland United Church is host­ing its fi­nal garage sale of the sea­son on June 16 start­ing at 9 a.m.

NEW CHURCH LO­CA­TION

The Grace Bap­tist Church will hold its first ser­vice in its new lo­ca­tion June 17. The church has moved to the Hum­ber Trust Build­ing, 19 West St., Suite 26. Park­ing is in the back of the build­ing.

GAR­DEN­ING WORK­SHOP

The Western En­vi­ron­ment Cen­tre will host a con­tainer gar­den­ing work­shop at the Cor­ner Brook Public Li­brary on Tues­day, June 19 at 3:30 pm. It’s for all ages, and par­tic­i­pants will learn how easy it is to grow veg­eta­bles and herbs in all types of con­tain­ers. Con­tainer gar­den­ing is ideal for any level of gar­den­ing ex­pe­ri­ence. All ma­te­ri­als will be pro­vided. The work­shop is free, but dona­tions are en­cour­aged. RSVP to info@wecnl.ca.

ART in the LI­BRARY

The Bay St Ge­orge Artists As­so­ci­a­tion is host­ing a Sum­mer Art Ex­hibit & Sale of Art now on dis­play at The Kin­dale Public Li­brary in Stephenville. More than 35 pieces of orig­i­nal art in wa­ter­colour, acrylic and oils by lo­cal artists. The ex­hibit will run un­til Septem­ber.

FRIEND­SHIP CEN­TRE

The Peo­ple of The Dawn In­dige­nous Friend­ship Cen­tre is cur­rently seek­ing vol­un­teers for the Help­ing Hands Pro­gram. The Help­ing Hands Pro­gram was cre­ated to help se­niors in our com­mu­ni­ties with any­thing rang­ing from house­work to light snow shov­el­ing, or just spend­ing some time with them. This is a free ser­vice to se­niors and sta­tus card is not re­quired. Please con­tact Paul or Sa­man­tha at 643-3902 for fur­ther in­for­ma­tion.

DONA­TIONS NEEDED

The Com­mu­nity Youth Net­work Cor­ner Brook and Bay of Is­lands YMCA in­tend to open and op­er­ate a high-end, used chil­dren’s cloth­ing store in part­ner­ship with Pathfind­ers Al­ter­na­tive Ed­u­ca­tion Pro­gram. The re­tail store, lo­cated on the lower level of the Mill­brook Mall, will be tar­geted to­wards grow­ing, ecofriendly fam­i­lies. CYN is re­quest­ing dona­tions for gen­tly used baby and chil­dren’s cloth­ing (ages 0-5). There is a par­tic­u­lar need for baby cloth­ing for girls. Dona­tions can be dropped off to CYN in the Mill­brook Mall be­tween 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., Tues­day to Satur­day.
