Oakland United Church is hosting its final garage sale of the season on June 16 starting at 9 a.m.
The Humber Deanery are holding a fundraiser to help with sponsorship of its next Syrian family at Granny’s Attic in Deer Lake on Saturday, June 16. All proceeds from sales from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. will go to the sponsorship fund.
NEW CHURCH LOCATION
The Grace Baptist Church will hold its first service in its new location June 17. The church has moved to the Humber Trust Building, 19 West St., Suite 26. Parking is in the back of the building.
The Western Environment Centre will host a container gardening workshop at the Corner Brook Public Library on Tuesday, June 19 at 3:30 pm. It’s for all ages, and participants will learn how easy it is to grow vegetables and herbs in all types of containers. Container gardening is ideal for any level of gardening experience. All materials will be provided. The workshop is free, but donations are encouraged. RSVP to info@ wecnl.ca.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 13 will be hosting a fish dinner on June 20.

In 2011, Newfoundland and Labrador Laubach Literacy Council Inc. (NLLLC) launched a provincial fundraising campaign called “Roll Pennies for Pages.” With the end of the penny, why not donate them to us? Effective immediately hours of operation will be 4-5:30 p.m. Fridays. Mary’s Kitchen is operated by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul with the co-operation and help of volunteers from other Catholic organizations. A free hot meal is offered to everyone who attends. It is located in the basement of Most Holy Redeemer Cathedral, Mt. Bernard Ave. All are welcome.

The Newfoundland Aboriginal Women’s Network offers cultural sensitivity workshops to all service providers, stakeholders and/or organizations offering services and programs. This workshop focuses on identifying with and respecting various cultures. It also introduces some traditional Mi’kmaq culture and teachings. This workshop is open to all groups free of charge.
