St. Jacobs dog park gets the nod

-

Woolwich is moving ahead with an off-leash dog park in St. Jacobs.

Meeting this week, council approved plans to use a 13-acre site near the Health Valley Trail – access at 65 Water St. – as an unfenced open space where dogs can run freely under the supervision of their owners.

The area provides a low-cost option to meet the demands of residents who’ve been asking for a dog park. With the area pretty much ready for the proposed use – there’s no clearing needed – the township expects to pay out less than $1,500, mostly for signs.

The township is also looking at the option of a fenced dog park elsewhere, though that would be a more expensive undertaking.
