Fund­ing fol­lows June floods

Fol­low­ing up on last sum­mer’s flood­ing along the Grand River sys­tem, the prov­ince this week an­nounced fund­ing through the Mu­nic­i­pal Dis­as­ter Re­cov­ery As­sis­tance pro­gram (MDRA).

The funds are in­tended to help with cul­vert and road re­pairs, and re­build­ing shore­line in­fra­struc­ture in the wake of the June 23, 2017 flood­ing event.

Maple­ton Town­ship is el­i­gi­ble for up to $359,601 in provin­cial fund­ing un­der the pro­gram, while neigh­bour­ing Minto could get up to $260,771.

The MDRA pro­gram helps mu­nic­i­pal­i­ties ad­dress ex­tra­or­di­nary emer­gency re­sponse costs and dam­age to es­sen­tial prop­erty or in­fra­struc­ture as a re­sult of a nat­u­ral dis­as­ter.
