RCMP and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection partner to reduce child victimization
A BID TO COMBAT child exploitation and reducing youth victimization is the impetus for a partnership between the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (C3P).
The partnership aims to leverage each organization’s expertise in helping Canadians prevent, report and respond to child victimization, police said in a release this week.
C3P offers programs for immediate assistance, and educational materials and specialized training to help inform Canadians and police officers about youth safety. C3P and the RCMP believe that preventing child victimization can only be accomplished in partnership with the community.
RCMP school liaison officers will be distributing copies of C3P’s My First Safety Book. The booklet introduces age-appropriate child safety concepts through discussion guides and visual activities. Parents and educators can find the free guide on C3P’s website.
“The RCMP works with partners at the municipal, provincial and federal levels to prevent child victimization, and to rescue and support victims. We look forward to continuing this partnership with C3P, who is a valuable partner in our efforts to reduce and respond to instances of missing or sexually exploited children in Canada,” said RCMP Deputy Commissioner Kevin Brosseau.
