Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Direct Action Response Team (DART) charged a Guelph man in connection to multiple stolen motor vehicle incidents.

Police began an investigation on January 21 when a male driving a stolen Infiniti SUV stole a set of tires at a residence in Waterloo. On January 27, the same male and an unknown suspect attended a business in the area of Charles Street West and Victoria Street South and attempted to steal a 26-foot truck, damaging the ignition in the process.

On January 28, driving the stolen Infiniti, the male entered a business compound in Woolwich Township. He then stole a Ford Ranger before abandoning it and stealing a Jeep Wrangler, leaving the Infiniti in the compound.

On February 1 at approximately 11:30 a.m., a DART investigator located the male walking on Victoria Street North in Kitchener and placed him under arrest.

The stolen Jeep was recovered by officers a short time later in the area of Bridgeport Road and Lancaster Street West in Kitchener.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old man was charged with several offences, including: ‘theft of a motor vehicle’ (two counts), ‘attempt theft of a motor vehicle,’ ‘theft under $5,000,’ ‘occupant of motor vehicle without consent,’ ‘mischief under $5,000,’ ‘possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000’ and ‘possession of stolen property under $5,000.’
