Drunk driving charge follows collision with empty school bus
a man is charged with impaired driving after an empty school bus was struck and sent into the path of a transport truck early Tuesday, police say.
it was about 7 a.m. when oxford oPP say they responded to a threevehicle collision between a car, a school bus and a transport truck at the intersection of beachville road at Foldens line in southwest oxford.
The man driving the car had to be cut from the wreckage, police say, and was transported to hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the school bus was taken to hospital with minor injuries. There were no children on the bus at the time of the collision. The transport truck driver was uninjured.
The collision happened when a car heading west on beachville road failed to stop at the stop sign, and collided with a school bus that was travelling north on Foldens line, police say. The bus then careened into a collision with a transport truck that was travelling southbound on beachville road.
The car’s driver, a 31-year-old london man, is charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in his blood.
he received a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days. he was released on an appearance notice with a future court date.
The road was closed for several hours for the investigation.
