Drunk driv­ing charge fol­lows col­li­sion with empty school bus

a man is charged with im­paired driv­ing af­ter an empty school bus was struck and sent into the path of a trans­port truck early Tues­day, po­lice say.

it was about 7 a.m. when ox­ford oPP say they re­sponded to a three­ve­hi­cle col­li­sion be­tween a car, a school bus and a trans­port truck at the in­ter­sec­tion of beachville road at Fold­ens line in south­west ox­ford.

The man driv­ing the car had to be cut from the wreck­age, po­lice say, and was trans­ported to hos­pi­tal with mi­nor in­juries. The driver of the school bus was taken to hos­pi­tal with mi­nor in­juries. There were no chil­dren on the bus at the time of the col­li­sion. The trans­port truck driver was un­in­jured.

The col­li­sion hap­pened when a car head­ing west on beachville road failed to stop at the stop sign, and col­lided with a school bus that was trav­el­ling north on Fold­ens line, po­lice say. The bus then ca­reened into a col­li­sion with a trans­port truck that was trav­el­ling south­bound on beachville road.

The car’s driver, a 31-year-old lon­don man, is charged with im­paired driv­ing and driv­ing with more than 80 mil­ligrams of al­co­hol in his blood.

he re­ceived a 90-day driver’s li­cence sus­pen­sion and the ve­hi­cle has been im­pounded for seven days. he was re­leased on an ap­pear­ance no­tice with a fu­ture court date.

The road was closed for sev­eral hours for the in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
