Boeing 787 power systems ready to go

United Technologies Corp.’s Hamilton Sundstrand unit, builder of the power systems for Boeing Co.’s new 787 Dreamliner, said the planemaker has everything it needs to turn the aircraft’s power on for the first time this month.

The so-called power-on test will be a crucial milestone for the aircraft, which has already been postponed at least 14 months from the original delivery target of last month because of manufacturing delays and design issues.

When Boeing announced the most recent delay in April, the Chicagobased company said power-on was scheduled for June.
