TLC offers a working holiday

The Land Conservancy of B.C. has organized a series of four farm conservation holidays beginning with a June 11-15 working holiday at Saltspring Island’s Foxglove Farm and Grandview Farm. It is a chance for city dwellers to learn about sustainable farming techniques while reconnecting with the land and the farmers who grow our food.

Organizers suggest participants bring their own tent and sleeping bag for camping at Michael Ableman’s Foxglove Farm, a 120-acre farm halfway up Mount Maxwell. Participants will also work at Grandview Farm, the 175-acre certified organic farm in Fulford Valley specializing in grass-fed beef, fruit, nuts and vegetables. The working holiday begins at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, and wraps up Sunday, June 15 at 4:30 p.m. Cost is $200, $175 for Land Conservancy members. Call 1-888-738-0533 to reserve and for more information.
