Uvic men clinch first in Canada West soccer


The University of Victoria Vikes men’s soccer team clinched first place in Canada West with a 2-0 victory against the Alberta Golden Bears over the weekend in Edmonton.

Two freshman, Craig Gorman and Cam Hundal, scored the goals as Uvic finished at 10-2-2 and on a seven-game winning streak.

The Vikes will face the fourth-place Golden Bears again in Saturday’s conference semifinal at 2:15 p.m. at Centennial Stadium. The other semifinal Saturday features second-place UBC and third-place Trinity Western at noon.

The semifinal winners advance to the conference final on Sunday at 2:15 p.m. at Centennial Stadium.
