Reuters beats estimates
NEW YORK — Thomson Reuters Corp. reported a 10 per cent rise in thirdquarter profit, beating market estimates, as revenue grew and margins expanded, though growth in its markets division remained sluggish.
Total revenue for the news and data provider was $3.26 billion US, up five per cent before currency changes. Analysts had expected revenue of $3.23 billion US.
The company said in September that it planned to merge the professional division, which grew 10 per cent in the quarter, with its markets division, which has struggled.
