Two Ontario children pulled from pools die
Police say a four-year-old girl who was pulled from a pool in Vaughan, Ont., earlier this week has died in hospital.
Police say the girl was at a private day camp on Tuesday at a large fitness centre when she was found by a staff member.
Police said she had been underwater for as long as two minutes before she was found, and it’s unclear whether there was a lifeguard or a supervisor around the pool at the time.
Police say CPR was immediately performed on the girl, who was pulled from the pool without any vital signs.
The coroner will lead an investigation into the death and police are still looking for witnesses who were at the pool at that time.
In a similar incident in London, Ont., police said a two-year-old child is dead after being found unconscious in a backyard pool.
Police said they were called to a south-end home Friday afternoon and first responders found the child in medical distress and attempted resuscitation.
The child was transported to Children’s Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre, where resuscitation continued, but Const. Anthea Fordyce said those efforts failed. The coroner’s office is investigating.
Fordyce said the child is the victim of an apparent drowning, but the circumstances are still under investigation.
