VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AT GOWARD HOUSE

Front Desk Volunteers: Morning Shifts: 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Afternoon Shifts: 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. During each front desk shift, volunteers work individually to meet & greet visitors to Goward House, handle phone calls, collect funds, write receipts and assist the administration office whenever possible.

Kitchen Volunteers: Morning Shifts:9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Individuals are paired with another volunteer to work as a team to prepare sandwiches, tea, coffee, etc. Afternoon Shifts:12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Most volunteers work individually on afternoon shifts. No food prep is involved. Make tea, coffee, sell items, collect money and run the dishwasher.

Spares: If you are unable to volunteer for a regular shift, please consider volunteering as a “spare” for the kitchen or the front desk, to fill a shift when a regularly-scheduled volunteer is away due to medical appointments, illness, or travel plans.

Program Facilitator: If you have a special skill or knowledge and would like to share it with others as a group facilitator, please let them know. Volunteering is a great way to meet other Goward House members and make new friends. Those interested are asked to contact Elaine Leonard or Mary Homer at 250-477-4401. Minimal training is required and provided on site. All volunteers must possess the ability to work unsupervised.
