The James Bay Market Society promotes community through local commerce and entertainment. Seedy Saturday is the annual community spring seed and garden show featuring organic and open-pollinated (not GMO) seeds, available from small growers. It focuses on preserving seed diversity for gardeners, preserving food security and protecting our environment with sustainable gardening practices. Seedy Saturdays include garden talks, seed sales and exchanges, displays, gardening books and kids’ activities. Seedy Saturdays is looking for an on-site supervisor to work with a team at the Feb. 21 event. Supervisors direct other volunteers, set up signs and provide directions to the public. Library Tech Buddies: The Greater Victoria Public Library needs teen volunteers to use their skills with computers and other new technologies to connect with people in the community and earn volunteer hours. Volunteer Co-ordinator: The Victoria Rainbow Kitchen Society needs someone to work three hours per day, or nine hours per week. Tasks include maintaining volunteer records, developing and organizing volunteer orientation, maintaining a list of active volunteers and organizing volunteer appreciation.
