S hopping for the perfect wedding dress to compliment your curves can be overwhelming and sometimes downright disheartening. Sarah Frejd and her team want to help you find the ideal gown to highlight your best features and make you feel gorgeous.

Curvalicious Boutique is a local shop in Victoria’s Westshore that features both new arrivals and consignment items. They are known for carrying a variety of chic and trendy clothing in style and season ranging from casual wear to business attire. The latest additions include prom dresses, bridesmaids gowns, and most recently, bridal wear. Frejd, owner of Curvalicious, has responded to Victoria’s lack of plus-size fashion for weddings by incorporating a specialized bridal section in her boutique ranging from sizes 14–28.

“I want plus-size brides to have a helpful place to find the wedding gown of their dreams!” Frejd says, “Brides of every size search for a comfortable, non- judgmental environment where informed staff can help them find their dress. This is not an easy task for curvy women living in Victoria and Vancouver Island, as most bridal boutiques on the island only have sample gowns between sizes 4 and 10. It is difficult to feel confident in your choices when staff may not be familiarized with the particular needs that a plus-size woman encounters.”

Frejd notes, “At our store, we have a selection of plus sized wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses at affordable prices that have been brought in on consignment, and we are currently accepting more. If there are any brides or bridesmaids looking for a place to consign dresses that are sitting in their closets, they can call us. “We’ve had brides burst into tears of joy after finding the dress they’ve always dreamed of after searching all over Vancouver Island to no avail. They looked stunning while standing proudly in a gown that flattered their figure and actually fits them,” Frejd said.
