-

The Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria has reached into the country’s diplomatic corps to add to its professorial ranks.

The school has appointed former Canadian ambassador to Tunisia, Sébastien Beaulieu, as an adjunct professor.

“We are extremely pleased to announce that Sébastien Beaulieu will serve as our adjunct professor, bringing a wealth of knowledge from the foreign service to the Gustavson School of Business,” Saul Klein, dean of Gustavson School said in a statement. “Sébastien will be an inspiration to our faculty and students, drawing from his extensive international experience.”

The move adds to the business school’s expertise for doing business in the Middle East.

Beaulieu is currently executive director of Middle East relations at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development.

His appointment to the UVic faculty continues until Sept. 30 2018.

Beaulieu brings with him 17 years of international experience, including assignments in Geneva, Paris and Tunisia. As the ambassador to Tunisia since 2012, he has been exposed to foreign policy formulation, governance and decisionmaking on key issues related to Canada’s diplomacy.

Beaulieu will serve as a guest lecturer in classes and at select Gustavson School events.

He will also provide career advice to students, be a resource for faculty members for research, teaching and curriculum development, and help to ensure curriculum development is in sync with real world practices.
