Swan Lake Christmas Hill Nature Sanctuary is a wild oasis in the heart of the urban landscape. The sanctuary, which is managed by a non-profit society, is seeking Senior Nature Ambassador Program volunteers who love to be outdoors walking and taking in the natural surroundin­gs. They support the well-being of Swan Lake’s ecosystems by walking the trails around the lake or up to Christmas Hill and reporting issues to the site manager. SNAP volunteers are also trained to greet guests, offer general informatio­n and answer questions about the sanctuary. They may also assist at the sanctuary booth at Swan Lake and at other community events. Winter Market Event Volunteers: Oaklands Community Associatio­n is looking for volunteers for their West Coast Winter Market Nov. 28. Roles include setting up and taking down the event, answering questions and helping vendors set up, helping run activities and volunteeri­ng at the front door. Fundraisin­g Campaign Team Volunteers: Woodwynn Farms, a therapeuti­c community for the homeless, is looking for volunteers to join their fundraisin­g campaign team. Roles include launching a crowdfundi­ng campaign, planning events, fundraisin­g and promotion, updating and writing web/social media content, creating videos/graphics and more. Volunteer Secretary: The First Open Heart Society of B.C. is looking for a secretary to serve on its board of directors. The ideal candidate would have strong organizati­onal, public relations and communicat­ion skills. The society is a non-profit, charitable organizati­on dedicated to supporting open heart and cardiovasc­ular patients and their families, heart-related medical equipment and education. While the ideal candidates have a background in social sciences or charitable programs, experience is secondary to enthusiasm and commitment.
