V ictoria Distillers will officially open its doors on the Sidney waterfront on May 20. It will offer small batch, well-crafted gin (previously sold as Victoria Spirits), Left-Coast Hemp Vodka and other unique products. As the only seaside distillery on Vancouver Island, we know Victoria Distillers will be a hit with residents and visitors alike. And look what’s on:
Tours and Tastings: The distillery offers tours of the full production process, right from the first step of selecting botanicals to the blending, bottling, and numbering of each small batch. The entire process is definitely a labour of love – with exquisite results. The tours provide an intimate look at one of B.C.’s finest artisan distilleries. After the tour, visitors are invited to have a wee taste! Tours are available between noon and 5 p.m. at a cost of $7.
On-site Lounge: The on-site lounge offers a unique opportunity to see top-notch bartenders do their thing – mix, muddle and shake fine cocktails! The lounge is a hub of innovation, a great place to meet and chat and enjoy locally-made preserves and charcuterie. Bartenders will be seeking feedback on their latest inventions so feel free to enjoy the moment and express your thoughts!
Off-License: All products are available for sale at the on-site off-license (and local liquor stores).
Quality Products: Well-crafted spirits are the essential building blocks of great-tasting cocktails. At Victoria Distillers, these “liquid bar tools” are made with one basic goal – to create the best-tasting drinks possible. Customer enjoyment is the #1 priority of everyone who works at the distillery. Victoria Gin is known as the “grandfather of B.C. small-batch gins,” best recognized for its balance of characteristic evergreen juniper flavour with notes of floral and spice. Devotees say that the glorious result is as every bit as full-bodied and complex as a fine malt whisky.
And mentioning whisky, that’s in the plans for Victoria Distillers too. In the meantime, the distillery also offers Oaken Gin, matured gracefully in new American oak barrels until it is amber in colour and beautifully smooth, and Left Coast Hemp Vodka that has a rich, silky texture with notes of hazelnut and a hit of spice: elegant, clean and refreshing.
With so much on offer, you will have a great time getting to know this new kid on the block! After your distillery visit, enjoy a fine meal at one of Sidney’s outstanding restaurants or pubs.
