Have an action-packed day, care of Victoria Foundation
Admire art, stroll through magnificent gardens, climb new heights and explore nature — all for free during Victoria Foundation Day, Saturday at various locations in Greater Victoria.
To celebrate its 80th anniversary, the foundation, which provides grants to non-profit organizations, is offering a birthday gift to the community: free admission to 25 popular attractions.
“Our 80th anniversary celebration honours people and organizations that have been part of our impact here,” said Robert Janus, director of communications at Victoria Foundation. “Victoria Foundation Day is an opportunity for the public to take advantage of the incredible assets in the community. I encourage Victorians to enjoy the great range of fun, healthy activities available in the region.”
Attractions include the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, B.C. Aviation Museum, Boulders Climbing Gym, Abkhazi Garden, Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea and others.
It includes free admission at current special attractions, such as the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s new Millenia exhibition, and venues that typically suggest admission by donation, such as Swan Lake Nature Sanctuary.
The day is meant to help Victorians enjoy a day of art, athletics, nature, history and more.
Started in 1936 by Burges Gadsden, the Victoria Foundation is the region’s largest non-government funder, with assets of more than $270 million and annual granting of more than $15 million.
