Port Alberni thieves steal boats, motors

Thieves in Port Alberni have stolen power boats and about half a dozen motors in the past several weeks.

Trailered boats from city streets have been targeted.

Late Friday or Saturday morning, a boat was taken from 6th Avenue. After it was towed away, the motor was removed and the boat was set on fire.

Early Sunday, a boat was stolen from in front of a 2nd Avenue home. It was found without its trailer on a forestry road southeast of town with its motor removed. The trailer was found later and a truck involved in the theft was seized.
