Airport security contracts extended

OTTAWA — The federal agency in charge of security at Canada’s airports has renewed screening contracts with three private-sector firms — GardaWorld, Securitas and G4S. The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority said the total value of the contract extensions is $2.6 billion. They’ll run from April 2017 through March 2022. CATSA said GardaWorld will receive contracts worth $1.4 billion for 28 airports in Ontario, the three Prairie provinces and Northwest Territorie­s. Securitas Transport Aviation gets contract extensions worth $632 million for Quebec and the Atlantic provinces, while G4S Secure Solutions gets extensions worth $510 million for British Columbia and Yukon.
