Are Canadians nice? Evidence says yes

Re: “Are Canadians nice? Evidence says no,” letter, Feb. 5. I was sorry to read of this letter-writer’s experiences. As a longtime resident of Victoria, and as a proud Canadian, I cannot say that I have suffered the same challenges.

Perhaps it is my approach to applying common sense to daily situations, as well as embracing life with a pay-it-forward attitude. I generally find that a smile and simple consideration provide a wonderful return on investment.

My evidence, contrary to that of the letter-writer, elicits an emphatic “yes” to the question. Simon Smith Victoria
