Admission is $7 on Feb. 14 and by donation on Feb. 21 Why: The late Linda Griffiths is best known for her 1980 onewoman play Maggie and Pierre. However, there was more than one arrow in this acclaimed Canadian playwright’s quiver. Theatre Inconnu is reviving Griffiths’ final play, Age of Arousal, about a pair of lesbian lovers, a school for secretarie­s and the 19th-century women’s suffrage movement in England. — Adrian Chamberlai­n

What: Jazz on View benefit concert/dinner Where: Hermann’s Jazz Club When: Monday, starts at 6 p.m., doors at 5 p.m. Tickets: $100 via jazzonview.com Why: Jazz on View is a newly minted community organizati­on aiming to keep the jazz flame alive at Hermann’s Jazz Club. With this in mind, the group is putting on a benefit concert/ buffet dinner. Chef Bill Jones will cook; Maria Manna will host and sing. The roster includes New York pianist Misha Piatigorsk­y and the Island Big Band. — AC

What: Marianas Trench with Shawn Hook Where: Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre When: Sunday, 7 p.m. Tickets: $25, $35, $49.50, and $65.00 by phone at 250-2207777, in person at the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre box office (1925 Blanshard St.) Why: Vancouver rockers Marianas Trench were booked to play Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre in November, but the show was postponed due to illness — one of 10 shows axed from the band’s tour in support of its new album, Astoria. Marianas Trench is set to make its return this weekend, with some momentum at its back. Astoria earned the group a Juno Award nomination Tuesday for pop album of the year, the seventh nomination of its career and second in the pop-album category. — Mike Devlin
