Kindergarten priorities are off-base

-

Re: “Greater Victoria district adds kindergarten spaces,” Feb. 21. So the Greater Victoria School District can add spaces for English and French immersion kindergarten, but cuts the Coastal Kindergartens.

Parents in Victoria want their children to have the rich set of experiences that would be possible through a nature-focused kindergarten as much as they want their children to have the experience of learning a second language.

Why one, and not the other? Children can gain from an immersion in the language of the local environment as well as an immersion in French. Richard Kool and Enid Elliot Victoria
