Let’s use the water for public transport

Re: “Still waiting for action on transit,” editorial, March 10.

It will cost $10 million in initial capital, plus an annual subsidy of $3 million to $4 million for operating costs just to get commuters from Langford and Colwood only as far as Vic West, where they will then have to complete their ride to downtown Victoria by foot, bicycle, bus or taxi.

Wouldn’t it be faster, cheaper and more direct to establish a commuter ferry service from Esquimalt Harbour to the Inner Harbour? We live on an island, surrounded by water. Why not use it for transit?
