Mitzi Dean

Married with one daughter; age 48. Born in Sevenoaks, Kent, England. Lives in Metchosin and has lived or worked in the West Shore for 10 years. Executive director of the Pacific Centre Family Services Association.

Making a difference:

CRD Victoria family court and youth justice committee, Langford protective services committee, Literacy Connection West Shore’s literacy steering committee, Federation of Community Social Services of B.C. Chair of: UVic Centre for Youth and Society, West Shore Family Strategy Group, South Island Training Initiative, Sooke Co-operative Association of Service Agencies and co-chair of West Shore Child and Youth Mental Health Local Action Team. Served more than 1,000 people every year for 10 years, advocating on behalf of the community and building a partnership to create 104 units of affordable housing.

Main issue:

Affordability. “Every day, I have been fighting for social justice on the West Shore.”

“My daughter has been a positive influence in my life. I am doing this for her and for future British Columbians.”
