Victoria man dead in targeted shooting outside Langley pub
Tyler Joseph Pastuck, a 31-yearold Victoria man, was shot to death in Langley Friday night in what police believe to be a targeted shooting.
A second man who was shot is being treated in hospital.
Langley RCMP responded just before midnight to the area of Browns Socialhouse at 200th Street and the Langley Bypass, and found Pastuck dead at the scene.
Pastuck and the other shooting victim knew each other, police said.
“This act of violence was committed in a brazen fashion and it was a flagrant disregard for the safety of the public,” said Cpl. Meghan Foster of the RCMP’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. “Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police so that those responsible are held accountable.”
Police said that after the shootings, a burning vehicle was found nearby at 203rd Street and 63rd Avenue. It has not been determined if the vehicle is connected to the shootings.
Langley RCMP, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team, the RCMP’s Integrated Forensic Identification Section and the B.C. Coroners Service are involved in the investigation.
Pastuck was convicted of manslaughter in 2012 for his part in a 2010 death in Campbell River. Before the slaying, he had assault convictions in Vancouver and Campbell River.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for Pastuck’s funeral expenses and some travel costs. The page said Pastuck had been scheduled to leave for Yukon for work on the day of the homicide, but his flight was cancelled.
He and a friend arranged to meet for restaurant meal and were shot as they left, the page said.
