- Please consider donating to NIWRA, or give a lasting legacy that will continue the recovery and discovery of wildlife. niwra.org

Recovery and Discovery is what the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre is all about. Located in the district of Errington (just outside of Parksville) on Vancouver Island, the Centre is a world class wildlife rehabilitation facility specializing in raptors and black bears, although many more wildlife species are admitted for care. That is the ‘Recovery’ part of NIWRA.

There is much more to discover – like the as public viewing of non-releasable wildlife such as owls, falcons, hawks, ravens and others. The park-like setting showcases the Museum of Nature, Learning Centre, Magical Field of Stones, the largest flight cage of its kind in Canada, a release pond and a Wildlife Garden. The facility has been designed to pique your interest in a learning about wildlife in a unique way. You won’t be disappointed.

Recovery of the animals and discovery of how they impact our lives and the environment is the theme at the North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre.

As a non-profit organization that began in 1984, the Centre strives to care for animals to teach humans. Volunteers are essential in carrying out NIWRA’s mandate. If you are interested in helping, please visit the website and send in your application.

Without the generous support of the public, NIWRA could not exist. The animals depend on us we depend on you.
