Voters see through Green grandstanding

-

Re: “Weaver loses speaking slot — and temper,” column, April 19.

Given the apparent size of B.C. Green Party Leader Andrew Weaver’s ego, it isn’t surprising he would have a “hissy fit” over not being able to participate in a debate in the legislature because of his inability to manage his time properly.

To then turn around and blame the B.C. Liberals for not “buying him enough time,” and then launch into a tirade of invectives against them because of his lack of planning is not only disingenuous but smacks of electioneering at its worst. However, that isn’t so surprising, either, given the unholy alliance he cut with the NDP to save both his and his party’s political skins.

Now, with his second call or “chirp” for an election under the guise of reducing the number of Liberals in the legislature, it is abundantly clear that Weaver’s grandstanding is just that, and B.C. voters will see through his game. What electors would probably agree with him on, however, is that British Columbians would no doubt welcome an election so the province can get back to a less dysfunctional form of governance than currently exists.

Most of all, it would provide an opportunity to rid the legislature of ego-driven politicians who are unable to contain their vitriolic and emotional outbursts. Let the writ be dropped, please.
