Another ‘historic meeting’ ended badly

-

Re: “Time to talk about Nobel Peace Prize,” letter, June 13. Rather than talking of a Nobel Peace Prize for U.S. President Donald Trump, we should remember a similar “historic meeting” in Munich in 1938.

It was on returning from that meeting between British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, and the German Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler, that a similar piece of paper was waved and Chamberlain declared: “Peace in our time!”

Since he also stated that he trusted Hitler, and Trump is now saying that he trusts the North Korean leader to the extent he has declared “There is no longer a nuclear threat from North Korea,” let us hope and pray that this will not be another instance of history repeating itself.
