Falcons keep HarbourCats at bay

Times Colonist - - Sports -

A solo homer by six-foot-three slugger Trey Bigford of Burkburnett, Texas, in the seventh inning was pretty much the highlight of the night for the Victoria HarbourCats on Wednesday in a 7-1 West Coast League loss to the Falcons in Kelowna.

Falcons starter Jared Akin was the workhorse hero of the night for Kelowna, handcuffing the HarbourCats’ batters with a one-run-allowed pitching performance through eight innings.

Austin Butler had two RBIs to power the Kelowna offence.

The ’Cats (4-4) had beaten the Falcons (3-5) to open the series on Tuesday. Victoria’s three-game stand in the Okanagan concludes tonight.
