KAMLOOPS — The civilian police watchdog is investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a man dead in Kamloops.

The Independent Investigations Office of B.C. has sent investigators to Kamloops following the shooting late Friday.

RCMP said in a statement they were called to a report of a suspicious man in a Kamloops subdivision about 4:30 p.m.

They said there was a reported exchange of gunshots, and a man was found dead.

Investigators said no officers or any other members of the public were injured in the incident.

The statement said the Independent Investigations office will check if there is any link between police actions and the man’s death.
