Remember lung cancer in November

We all know when Breast Cancer Awareness Month was because of the overwhelming display of pink ribbons, pink running shoes and even pink tools. How many people know when Lung Cancer Awareness Month is? Hardly anybody.

Lung cancer gets a bad rap because of the smoking stigma attached to it, and less than seven per cent of donations go to lung cancer research. More and more people, especially women who have led a healthy life and had never smoked, will get lung cancer.

I lost my wife to lung cancer. She exercised, cycled, swam, played tennis, skied and never smoked. It’s obvious it has no mercy toward anyone and, because of the stigma attached to it, lung cancer research is the forgotten one.

Lung Cancer Awareness Month is November, and the ribbons you will never see are white.
