Beware danger of false equivalency
Re: “Many responsible for partisanship,” letter, Oct. 31.
I think the letter-writer has been watching a little bit too much Fox News. It is a false equivalency to claim that all sides are “responsible for the hyper-partisanship” in the U.S.
U.S. President Donald Trump’s rallies and multiple, false and hateful tweets are aimed at dividing the country and shoring up his base. Efforts to protest his regressive policies and address the mistruths his administration generates cannot really be seen as being on the same level, surely.
And just as an aside — the Republicans did not win the popular vote and there is evidence of foreign interference in the election, which does raise question about the legitimacy of Trump’s election.
