Tech blamed for Jepsen glitch

-

Carly Rae Jepsen’s label says a “glitch” is to blame for leaving her Canadian fans in the dark for the release of her anticipated new music video.

The B.C.-raised pop singer unveiled her new single Party for One on Thursday, but her supporters took to social media to complain about being locked out of the video’s debut in her home country. The technical error was fixed by the afternoon.

Party for One is Jepsen’s first song since last year’s Cut to the Feeling. She’s expected to release an album next year, which will be the first since 2015’s Emotion.

In the new bubblegum-pop track, she sings about self-love after a breakup. The video features Jepsen checking into a hotel and eventually partying with other single guests in the lobby.

A spokesman for Jepsen’s label said in an email a “Vevo glitch” was the reason Canadian fans were initially met with a “video unavailable” message.

Jepsen rose to fame with the 2012 song Call Me Maybe, which has been viewed more than a billion times on YouTube.
