Man found at marina couldn’t be revived

-

A man in his mid-40s found in the Oak Bay Marina parking lot on Wednesday could not be revived by emergency personnel.

Oak Bay police were called to the marina about 12:30 p.m. after someone spotted the man in a vehicle.

“Our officers were first on scene and tried CPR and other life-saving efforts,” said Deputy Chief Ray Bernoties.

Firefighters and paramedics also tried to revive the man, but were not successful, he said.

The cause of death was not immediately known.

A large section of the parking lot was cordoned off with yellow tape Wednesday afternoon as detectives and forensics officers investigated.

“At this time, we have no reason to expect foul play,” Bernoties said a few hours after the man was found.

“However, we’re on scene and we’ll stay there until we can ensure that’s the case.”
